Elizabeth Crawford is Professor of Music Performance at Ball State University, in Muncie, Indiana. A proponent of music for E-flat clarinet, Elizabeth has commissioned several works for the instrument. Her critically acclaimed CD of American music for E-flat clarinet, Instant Winners, was released on the Albany Records label in Fall 2018 and featured new works by Lori Ardovino and Jenni Brandon. Her forthcoming second CD for the instrument will showcase music from around the world, including commissions by five other female composers. In addition to the commissions, she has transcribed the five works by 19th-century Italian composer Giuseppe Cappelli for E-flat clarinet and piano, available on the Potenza label. Her editions of Cappelli’s four pieces for B-flat clarinet and piano are available from BRS Music in Indianapolis. A 2020-21 recipient of a Fulbright Core Award to the Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa, Portugal, Elizabeth will share her expertise on the piccolo clarinets through teaching and performing when she travels there in March 2022. Elizabeth is the 2021 recipient of the Dean’s Creative Endeavor Award of the College of Fine Arts for her research into the E-flat clarinet.

A registered yoga teacher, she received her 500-hour training certificate in 2020. She is also a Bridge Ruby Life Master and enjoys hiking in America’s national parks.
